THE ORPHAN QUEEN

Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.

She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others,

Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.

My Thoughts 5 STARS!!!!

(The Orphan Queen with my pre-order quote card made by Jodi Meadows!)

Well, first off I was invited to participate in The Orphan Queen Character Reveal Blog Tour, thanks Alexa Loves Books! Here is my post for that.  AND I WAS SUPER EXCITED TO BE INVITED!

But my blog post does not have my thoughts on the book because it went live BEFORE I had a chance to read this book. I was not able to get an ARC of The Orphan Queen so I waited patiently (mostly) for my copy to come in the mail on pub day.

I WAS SO NERVOUS! I had been promoting this book HARD because Jodi Meadows is super hilarious but I hadn't actually read the book yet. So, I was hoping beyond all hope that I loved this book. I had a few other super anticipated books that didn't hit the mark for me and I was getting nervous. BUT there was no need to worry.

THE ORPHAN QUEEN IS FANTASTIC! It really was just as good as everyone said.

What I loved:
Fantasy
Romance
Humor

I've decided these three elements together make the perfect book. (Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch is like this too!)

The Story:
Wilhelmina has been trying to take back her kingdom that had been overthrown by the neighboring Indigo Kingdom.  She infiltrates the Indigo Palace as a spy in order to gain information to help get her kingdom back. Along the way she meets Black Knife who is a vigilante in the kingdom who captures those who use magic. Magic has been outlawed and those who use it and are caught are never seen again.

The book is full of wonderful characters, exciting and thrilling moments, and wonderful humor.

The Characters:
Wilhelmina:  Wil never gives up. That's what I love about her character. She'll do whatever she needs to do to take care of those in her kingdom. She doesn't play the victim card from the pain of her past but uses her pain to spur her to continue her mission.

Black Knife. Oh Black Knife.....swoon my heart. He's so amazing. Just read the book so you know what I mean....

Overall:
READ THIS BOOK, BUY THIS BOOK, READ THIS BOOK AGAIN! The Orphan Queen is by far my favorite 2015 book so far.
